I bought some lovely gerberas, cut inch off stem how can I make them last longer as they drooped after 3 days?

looks like the gerbras had been cut a while before you got them, try cutting a bit more of the stem, preferably make a slant cut under water, stand in deep fresh cool water for a hour, then arrange in water to which an aspirin tablet has been added.Don't think there is more you can do.hope this works,it's a pity to loose lovely flowers so soon after buying them.

there is an additive that flower shops use don`t now name but you can get it from a nursery
Reply:Sounds harsh but, florists wire up the stem..
Reply:You can try soaking them in a warm water bath (cut off a little bit of the stem), then give them a cold water bath. If they are still droopy, the wiring trick mentioned above might work, or you can cut the stems short and try floating them in a shallow dish.

It might be that you bought old gerberas, too. Are you keeping them in a warm room? They'll stay longer in a cool room, and you can even put them in the fridge at night.
Reply:Either get an additive from the florist or else put an aspirin in the water. Give them some light during the day but keep them cool.
