Picnic reception help?

Hello need some feed back other than mother... my fiance and I are getting married in July, we want simple since he will only be in town for 9 days(in the Navy) Is it appropriate to have the reception the following day? I want a picnic theme(at the park we had our first date) so far I have a long sheet about 15yds to makeshift a banquet table and each person will have their own blanket to sit on. (couples will share) our colors are white and turquoise. I'm getting negative feed back that its in appropriate to have my guest sit on the floor..is it?? We are being catered by a taco truck(lol) and instead of a traditional wedding cake we will have a full sheet fruit tart. Still can't think of what kind of flowers..maybe gerbera daisies...(but what colors)Please help..getting stressed, can't talk with fiance he's on deployment so its all left up to me.( only his family and mine about 30people)
Picnic reception help?
I personally do not think its appropriate to have your reception the following day, I think you could still have your picnic theme reception, however I think it would be better if you ate at a picnic table, it will be more comfortable for everyone at your reception.
Reply:Nothing wrong in theory with a picnic reception, it sounds cute. just make sure you think everything through.

Reception the next day: A tiny intimate ceremony and a reception with more guests the next day is a very common thing.

guests on the ground: Who are your guests? Asking kids and young people to sit on the ground is fine, but if you have elderly people (grandparents? aunts and uncles? parents?

) attending they might not be able to get up and down from the ground easily or comfortablly. You need to think very carefully about your guest list and see if this is realistic. Is there a picnic table at the park you can be nearby to give a seating option ? our maybe you need to bring a table and chairs to have an old people table. A picnic on the ground is a cute idea but might not be as fun for your guests as for you. If you are worried about costs, renting tables and chairs for some (or all ) of the guests wont break the bank and might even be cheaper than buying matching picnic blankets for everyone.

Regardless, be sure to communicate clearly to all the guests the casualness of the event. No one will care that it is casual (many will prefer it) as long as they know in advance.

Decor: I would choose yellow and white flowers to go with your color scheme. or, pails of multicolored wild flowers to go with the picnic theme.

good luck, and dont stress out. You have plenty of time.
