When should i put flowers in h2o?

i'm doing my own centerpieces for my wedding. i'm just placing loose stems of various flowers into vases w/ water. gerberas, spider mums, and orchids. my flowers will be shipped to me thurs. should i put them in the vases thurs, fri, or sat?

Hi. As soon as you get them....unwrap them, cut the stems a little (1 inch or so); and place in cool water with the right amount of "floral food." You can buy floral food at places like Walmart or any home center store. (I simply used clean plastic buckets). Then, keep the flowers in a cool place, but I would not refrigerate. And I certainly would not freeze the flowers as someone suggested. Just keep in a cool (air conditioned?) place and they should be fine.



I did this with flowers I ordered for my son's wedding (250 roses!), and it worked out beautifully!
Reply:I would put them in the freezer until the day of your wedding and then put them in the vases before the wedding. They'll stay fresh and look their best.
